		<description>Some good basic information on alcohol abuse. Would be good to see some more information on drugs such as Speed, Crystal Meth or Ecstasy, as these drugs can cause permanent damage to the central nervous system. In the case of Ecstasy, there  is a reduction in the pyramidal density of the dendrites even after one dose, and there is evidence from rats that the influence of high heat and noise (such as found in discos) can exacerbate this effect. It is still unknown how long it takes for the brain to recover, or whether it ever functions at the same level as before. 

Alcohol addiction is very serious however, and more common than other drug addictions. What wasn&#039;t mentioned above was that alcohol is the only drug which can cause death through the shock of coming off too quickly. It is therefore important alcohol addicts receive a gradual step program when trying to give up.</description>
