If you’re tired of putting on the pounds throughout the winter months then you need to make sure you watch what you eat. A lot of us like to stay inside and relax during the winter which means we rarely get any exercise so if you don’t watch what you eat then you can see that it’s very simple to put on a few pounds. During the winter you need to make sure you eat plenty of vegetables and we’re going to take a look at some of the vegetables that are in season throughout winter.

Artichoke

Artichoke is a great winter vegetable and tops my list this year. This hearty vegetable is very easy too cook and is an excellent source for vitamin A, vitamin C and fibre among other things. You shouldn’t have a problem finding artichoke in your local grocery stores.

Cauliflower

Cauliflower is known to prevent cancers in people which is one of the reasons why people eat it. It’s great in many types of dishes like soups, salads and with meats and provides lots of flavour to your meals. It also isn’t hard to find cauliflower, especially during the winter.

Radishes

Radishes aren’t everyone’s favourite vegetable, but they contain a great source of vitamin C among many other things. If you don’t mind the taste of radishes then try adding them into your salads and dishes throughout the winter. There one of the healthier vegetables and are great with other vegetable dishes.

Rhubarb

Rhubarb is used in jams and pies most famously and you can find it in your grocery stores during the winter months usually depending on where you live. Rhubarb is also known to help reduce heartburn among many other things and contains sources of vitamin C among other things.

Watercress

Watercress is great in soups and salads and contains vitamin C among other things. You can use it in your soups and salads throughout the winter to make sure you’re getting plenty of vitamins. It also adds a nice flavour to your meals.

These are just five vegetables that you should be eating during the winter months. You should still make sure that you eat your vegetables like carrots, celery and broccoli. You can use them in combination with these winter vegetables and have yourself a very tasty winter meal.

If you’re not going to exercise because of the weather then you need to make sure you at least eat right. Make sure you get the right amount of vegetables into your diet every day, especially during the winter. It will help you keep your weight down and also help you become healthier.
