If you find yourself living your life in survival mode just working to sustain the status-quo, then it’s time to learn how to not only survive but to thrive and get ahead. All living things need to grow, and the same applies to your personal life. The tips below will help you learn to thrive, and to enjoy your life much more.
Learn to forgive yourself for your past mistakes.
Everyone makes mistakes. Mistakes aren’t necessary a bad thing – they can help us learn, and sometimes making a small mistake and learning from it can help us avoid making larger and more costly mistakes in the future. The problem is when people don’t let mistakes go, but instead obsess over them. This can often lead to stress and second-guessing, which can result in more mistakes being made. So, rather than helping you learn and grow as a person, obsessing over your past mistakes can just add to the problems you have in your life. Embrace those past mistakes; accept that they happened, and that you can’t do anything to unmake them; and then forgive yourself for them. Every now and then, you just need to restart your life with a clean slate, with all mistakes forgiven and forgotten.
Be grateful for all the positive things in your life.
We all have positives in our lives. Unfortunately, many of those positives get taken for granted, and go unappreciated as a result. It’s important to recognize the things that contribute to making your life better and more enjoyable, and also towards making you a better person. Make a list of all the positive things in your life, write down how each thing helps you, and learn to appreciate their value in improving your quality of living. When you encounter them in your daily life, learn to recognize them, and learn to enjoy them for what they are.
Don’t resent the negative things in your life.
We all also have many negative things in our lives, and sometimes you can’t do anything about these. It’s important to fix any problems that are fixable, but it’s also important to not resent the things which can’t be fixed. Resenting them just increases their effect on your life. Instead, try to remain positive while you are dealing with anything negative. Look out for any positives mixed in with the negatives, and focus on these. Look for the light at the end of that dark tunnel of negativity, and remind yourself that you are making progress towards that light.
Stop thinking that you’re not getting your share of the resources in your life.
Each of us has resources in our lives that we gain enjoyment and opportunity from; such as the attentions of a parent or friend, or the wages we earn in our daily jobs. It can be tempting to look at others who may be getting more of those resources than you are, and resent the fact that you are not getting more than you are. Instead of thinking that you are getting short-changed when others appear to be getting more than you do, learn to be grateful for the share you have, however big or small.
The best and most effective way to help yourself thrive is to change the attitudes that are holding you back, and make them work for you instead. The resources that you need to thrive are already available to you. They are just waiting for you to pick them up, and put them to use.

Great article. The way i like to look at it and the way i live my life is to think this; The world owes me nothing. I will get no more back than i deserve, I will get no more less than I deserve.
If I think that I deserve more then I obviously have not been as good as what i think that I have!
This achieves 3 things
1)I take FULL 100% responsibility for my life.
2)I do not become bitter towards people
3)I remember to keep giving
Once again simple but profound article, thanks
