What We Eat Is How We Think

Anything that goes inside your body directly effects in one way or another, the performance of your brain. It is proven that by eating the right food, not only you can improve your IQ, but more importantly, the stability of your emotional, better and sharper memory. Eating food that is full of nutrients, minerals, and protein is the basic thing in gaining healthy body and mind. There are three main ingredients that the brain needs, that are oxygen, water and nutritional food.

Amino Acid and Neurotransmitters

We all know how the brain cells communicate to each other to us to learn. They need chemicals which is called neurotransmitters. This is the “thing” that will carry all the messages from neuron to neuron. In order to convert amino acids to neurotransmitters, vitamins and minerals are needed. Amino acids can be found in our foods that contains protein such as fish, cheese and meat.

The Foods

Protein – This is the most essential “thing” to make neurotransmitters. It can easily be found in dairies products, meats and fish. Eating these types of healthy and fresh food would be a big boost to the brain cells.
Carbohydrate – This is for to enhance the absorption of tryptophan. It is then being converted to serotonin. Serotonin will take effects after thirty minutes or so making you feel more relaxed and calm. When digestion breaks down the carbohydrate, it changes to glucose. Glucose is the main energy for the brain.
Vitamins and Minerals – These are important in order for the brain to grow and function more healthily. Vitamins such as A, C and E are antioxidants in order to preserve the memory. While vitamin B complex are important as well as it is used to produce energy for the brain.

Doing It Right

Eating right and exercise more will actually make the brain healthier. Missing breakfast will actually make the brain weak as breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Studies show that eating oatmeal for children is good. This is because the oatmeal digests slowly giving the children constant energy and protein. Even old people say that reading a book upside down will increase the flow of the blood which carries oxygen to the brain. This kind of practice will also boost up the brain. Taking small healthy snacks from time to time will actually give more flow of oxygen to the brain. Drinking lots of plain water will keep the brain hydrated.
