If you work for yourself at home either as a home based business or online business you’ve probably had those days where you’ve done nothing. Now you need to make sure for your sake and your businesses sake that you don’t let these off-days become a habit. I find it a struggle to work steady work hours from home on my laptop as I get bored easily. So it takes me all day and night to complete about eight hours of work, as you can see something isn’t right. You shouldn’t need to take sixteen hours to complete eight hours of work so make sure you don’t fall victim to this situation. Many people who work at home get into the routine of working for a bit, taking a break and getting back to work, but this isn’t working smartly.

Most people work at home so that they can spend more time with their family, but if you’re in front of your computer screen for sixteen hours a day then you might find trouble spending time with your family. Below are some steps you can take to ensuring that you’re working less time and getting the same or more amount of work done. You need to decipher work time from family time and if you can’t do this then you’ll face many obstacles throughout your home based business career.

Set Your Work Hours

You need to have a certain time in the day that is allocated to your business so that things get done. When you’re in the allocated work time you need to ensure that you’re working on everything important. Once you’re done the eight hours you can then spend time messing around with stuff online for a bit if you want, but make sure you work a full day each day. Running a business isn’t easy, but you won’t make it any easier if you don’t set your work hours. You could also set two four hour slots in your day if you prefer to break your load up a bit.

Plan Your Day

You should have a daily planner that you use to keep organized with everything that you need to do so you don’t forget anything. This will allow you to easily check off completed tasks for the day as you complete them and before you know it your list will be full of check marks. Planning your day is important because people who don’t tend to spend more time organizing and thinking about what they should do during the day rather then just doing it.

You Can’t Force It

You can only work as hard as your body is going to allow you, and you can’t force yourself to pile out stuff that isn’t possible to do in the timeframe. You need to allocate enough time to complete tasks so that you’re never rushed into completing tasks as this is a nightmare for any business.
