It is thought that hypnosis, or healing by trance state, is possibly one of the oldest phenomena known to man and has been found in almost every culture in some way. The word hypnosis however, didn’t come into use until the mid 1800’s and is derived from the Greek work “hypnos” which means sleep.

It is thought that hypnosis works by altering our state of consciousness in a way where the left side of your brain is “turned off” and the right side is much more alert. The two sides of your brain process information in very different ways. One side is usually more dominant than the other, and you will process information using whichever side is dominant. For example, the left side of your brain is very linear. It takes pieces of a problem, lines them up in a logical order, and then draws a conclusion from them. If you enjoy making lists and planning your days out, you are probably a “lefty” when it comes to the dominant side of your brain. You generally have no problem expressing yourself with words and no trouble processing symbols.

Hypnotherapy is considered to be a medically safe and effective way to overcome problems that you may be experiencing in your life, and to help you reach your goals. Hypnosis can be effective to help you eliminate bad habits such as smoking; to effectively deal with any emotional issues; help reduce stress; change subconscious patterns in your behaviour; and even help with regression work such as investigating past lives.

Researchers say that most people actually enter into a hypnosis like state all on their own throughout their day. They believe that when you are daydreaming for instance, you are in a naturally relaxed and “altered” state that is similar to hypnosis.

It is believed that anyone can be hypnotized if they wanted to be. A good hypnotherapist will start by putting you at ease – whether by discussing your fears, answering your questions, or just talking to you. Once you are relaxed, you r subconscious mind is much more receptive to hypnosis.

Did You Know?

1. You don’t lose consciousness when you are hypnotized?
2. You never lose control during hypnosis. (You won’t have to fear accepting suggestions that go against any of your beliefs)
3. You can’t get stuck in hypnosis. You come out of hypnosis quickly and easily, and feel completely alert.
4. Hypnosis is not a quick fix for any problem.
5. You will remember what happens during your session, although there may be some details you can’t recall much in the same way as when you watch a movie you can’t recall every moment during the film. Only a very small percentage of people who enter into a hypnotic trance will actually have spontaneous amnesia.

Hypnosis is not a regulated field so exercise caution when choosing a hypnotherapist. You should be looking for training, qualifications, client testimonials, and looking to family and friends for referrals.

When you think of a personal trainer, do you think of the celebrity trainers that seem to produce miracles right before our very eyes? Do you think of the movie stars who are back to their pre baby body within a month of delivering their child? I have good news for you! Personal trainers are available in your city, they’re affordable, and they’re going to help you to increase your fitness level. In fact, experts estimate that by using a personal trainer, you can expect to see results that are up to 80% better and 3 times faster!

You can find personal trainers at your local gym, or you can choose to hire a trainer to complete group sessions or one-on-one training. Keep in mind that the personal trainers that you can access at your local gym will be able to help you get things started by providing a body analysis and give you tips and advice on the types of exercises you should be doing and how often you should be doing them, but they won’t work directly with you to ensure the success that has been mentioned above.

A trainer will help you start your program by looking at your body type and your fitness level in order to start you on a program that will give you the most benefits. They will be able to monitor your progress and will also help you move past any plateaus that you may reach. Because they are experts in their field, they can help you with a total fitness routine that may include changing the way you eat, the exercises you are doing and even the amount of exercise that you are doing.

Using a trainer will also help to keep you motivated. Gone are the days where you just choose not to workout, or you call your friend with an excuse not to head into the gym. If you find your motivation waning talk to your trainer because they can help you to work past the problems and find new ways to keep you reaching for your goal.

Without a trainer, you run the risk of using equipment or completing exercise movements incorrectly. Often, if exercises are not done properly, the value of the exercise is diminished. This means that you may find yourself working out without seeing as much benefit as you should. Incorrect exercises could also lead to muscle strains or injuries.

When you are looking for a trainer, keep the following things in mind. Is the trainer certified? How long have they been a trainer and what type of experience do they have? Do they have references? Is there a written contract? Is there a cancellation policy? Do they have liability insurance in case you are injured? In the event of an injury, will they communicate with your doctor? Do you like the trainer? Are they empathetic with your psychological state? Can they adapt the workouts to your situation (injuries, fitness level, etc)?
