Learning is a lifelong quest and in order for it to be a positive one, you need to have great study habits. In order for your children to start feeling positive about themselves they need to know that you care about him/her and want them to be successful in school. Children need to understand that learning is important as well as enjoyable. One of the biggest ways to help your child be successful in school is to help them to show you care.

1. Set ground rules at the beginning of the school year.
Make sure your child knows what time they need to go to bed at night and what time to get up in the morning (make sure they eat a nutritious breakfast every morning). Your child needs to know what time they need to catch the bus in the morning.

Admit it or not, at some point you have suffered from the disease to please doing things for everybody and never saying “no.” The problem is you may be neglecting the one person who needs you the most — YOU!

Here are 5 ways to recharge yourself:

1. Lighten up the burden of imposing high standards on yourself. Most often than not, these self-imposed high standard makes us cringe with guilt whenever we commit a self-nurturing act.

We create high expectations that are too difficult to meet, and when things don’t work out the way we planned it, we blame ourselves in the end. The fact is no one is capable of doing everything. We need no one’s

There were several self help texts and books around many years ago, but these were hidden deep within obscure libraries and unless you had already heard of the author, you really had no chance of finding them on your own.

Nowadays, there is the internet with its millions of websites, discussion forums and mailing lists that with literally one click of a search engine, you can have millions of websites brought before your eyes without you even having to leave your chair. You can find information about the psychology of self help, about the process of self help. You can see stories of individuals who have achieved success through self help techniques and guides – anything you want is there for you to see. So, let me ask you, my friend, what is stopping you from achieving the success you want?

There are some people in life who succeed no matter how many obstacles and hindrances they have in their way. Their house can burn down, they will get another one. Their business may collapse and they can go completely bankrupt, they will get up and start another business. They can lose a leg, they will sign up to run a marathon.

Then there are some people who will fail no matter how many wonderful opportunities they have. The goose that lays the golden eggs could land in their lap and they would cook it and eat it. Why is this? There are many reasons to do with motivation and the ability to spot opportunities and seize them when they come. But another reason is that people who fail have BAD habits. They do not put themselves in the way of success because they have bad habits ingrained into everything that they do.

If you come home every evening and slump in front of the television with a drink instead of doing something energetic like going for a run, or going out to meet friends, then what will you gain? It is very likely that you will not gain much except weight. An important point to note is that those happy, successful people you see on television spend hardly any time sitting watching TV themselves!

If you create an atmosphere of success around you then chances are high that you will attract more success to you. This can be achieved by adopting successful habits and ditching all those bad habits completely. Make a habit of looking after your appearance. If you look like a successful person, then you will feel like one and you will BE one!

Make a habit of doing things which are aimed at success. Learn more about your field by reading for half an hour everyday rather than watching TV. Those little tips you pick up by reading about your subject or reading trade journals could really help you when you least expect it.

Think about your life and how you can stop those bad habits which waste your time and achieve nothing and try to introduce one or two good habits into your life. Read more, or walk more. Take up a hobby which will keep you interested and interesting to others around you. You never know, it could just be the path to success that you are looking for.

Every minute; every second of our lives, we keep communicating with people, objects, places and all those physical and non-physical things that come in direct reference of our thought process. Surprisingly, we communicate with all our senses; through facial expressions; through unspoken silent gestures; through monologues and even through dialogues. Sometimes we even shout at the loudest of our pitches to communicate to people.

Just like food, Communication too has always been the most integral part of our everyday life. Try thinking of a day when we are not allowed to do so; and you would find that it almost seems as hard as not eating the whole day. Since communication is imperative with us human beings, therefore it is important that we practice the art of positive communication in our daily life. By following some basic rules of positive communication, we can indeed spread a lot of good vibes in the spaces that we move around everyday.

Don’t refuse, out rightly!
Negative answers often lead to triggering of negative thought processes, which can very easily result in negative energies flowing around your environment. These negativities creeping into your system can have an adverse impact on the performance levels at work or anywhere, where you might be. In order to minimize the damage caused by these negative answers; it is important that the phrase is replaced by an expression that’s more subtle; but does not even compromise the real meaning of what we actually intended to say. For example; a straight and blunt “No” could be replaced by a more subtle sounding unfeasible; or impractical; or even with phrases such as; I am afraid the cons weigh slightly higher than the pros here.

Don’t make unrealistic claims!
Making unrealistic claims might lure people towards you in the short run; but in the long run, they always inflict a heavy damage on your credibility among the people. And once the credibility factor starts going down; it would virtually take a life-long effort to restore it back again. That’s why it is always advisable to not loose it in the first place. Although it might seem a little difficult in the beginning, but once you get into the habit of saying things that you can keep, and doing things that you have promised, it really becomes more of a good habit that you always grow fond of keeping day after day.
Although, there might be times when some unforeseen situation might hamper your chances
of fulfilling that promise in totality. Then you must not hesitate in communicating the cause of delay to the concerned and also inform about the revised date, when the chances of the remaining job completion are almost 100%.

Don’t criticize people behind their back!
We all are human beings, and we all make errors in judgment at some point or the other. Being too critical about other’s mistakes opens unnecessary quarters of dissent around us, who try to give back the same criticism at the slightest of opportunities of flaw they might sense at our end. That’s why it is important that we leave room for the human element when taking stock of performances of people around us. It will not only help us in looking at their positive light, but also act as a positive vibe giving them ample fillip to look at our efforts more positively. On the other hand, if we indulge in criticism behind people’s back; they will definitely feel insinuated by us for tarnishing their public image. By speaking to them personally, and taking them into confidence about a certain situation, we can also help in minimizing any air of doubt that might be there in their minds.

Don’t be afraid of accepting your fault!
We should never feel shy of accepting responsibilities of outcomes from our actions. If for some funny reason, the outcome does not meet the criteria of success, then we should also not hesitate from accepting it as our fault. If we indulge in passing the buck on somebody else’s shoulders; it can really lead to unpleasant situations and consequences that might make us feel guilty in the end.

Don’t forget to thank, who matter!
Who does not want to be successful in life? In fact, we all strive day in and out to achieve recognition for our efforts, and we all desire to savor the financial rewards of a successful career in life. But life is indeed funny; it does not always go the way we have planned it to; and that can at times lead to difficult situations arising out of it. In these hours of crisis, there are people who walk alongside us, telling us not to loose faith in our abilities. These people are like those comforting lamps in a pitch dark street where our treading feels easy. No matter how bright a pedestal we may walk one day, we must never forget those people who stood by us in our hard times. We must always keep in touch with these guiding lights during our times of adversity; because it is actually these people, who help us in keeping our feet firmly rooted to the ground.

Don’t underestimate the power of forgiveness!
And lastly but most significantly, we must always try to forgive. There is no negative vibe bigger than holding a grudge in our hearts. It not only plagues us from the inside, but also makes us more self centered in outlook and approach. There is virtually no harm in forgiving; it makes room for improvement in the faulting person’s life.

There is a very famous quote from a very noble man; Mahatma Gandhi, who single handedly changed the destiny of an entire nation; and it says “Be the change that you wish to see in this world.” This quote almost perfectly sums up this entire discussion on communication here; because ultimately, we are (in people’s perception) what we communicate ourselves to others.

First, I don’t want to get too intellectual or holier than thou on the subject, so let me just say from the beginning that I am the biggest television junkie I know. And not only am I a junkie, but I watch the junk of the junk, reality shows, game shows, kids shows it doesn’t matter I can get hooked. I definitely put my television time in each week and enjoy it, but I have found one problem, it leaves me a little bit empty. Watching only television is like trying to run a marathon but eating nothing but sugar before the race, you will get off to a fast start, feel really high, but ultimately you just don’t have enough substance to finish the race. So, to go along with my television addiction I have rediscovered the lost art of reading books. Rediscovering reading has become one of the great joys of my life, unlike TV or movies which are snacks, a book is the whole meal, so hear are some tips about reading books and some good recommendations.

1.) I know that many of you are saying I don’t have time to read a book, I have kids, a marriage, a job when do I have the time? Well, I bet you watch some TV everyday, let’s cut into some of that time. And it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to finish a book, read ten pages before you fall asleep at night, ten pages during your lunch break, ten pages while you are waiting to pick your kids up from school or their activities. It’s not how fast you read, if it takes you months to finish a book that’s ok, it is that reading is fuel for the mind, even a little at a time will re energize you.

2.) I know many of you are wondering what to read, so before I make actual suggestions of books, lets talk about types of books. Personally, and now I know you are going to think I am a little crazy, I try to read two books at all times. Hold on, there is a good reason, as I told you I like my junk, so I always like to read a good novel, something that is gripping holds my attention so I don’t want to put the book down. But I also want to feel I am bettering myself, so I try to read some form of educational book at the same time. I read many biographies of great people, the past is always a prologue, there are many things to learn from our great men and women of the past. I also enjoy books on business, sometimes about the leaders of business, sometimes about the businesses themselves. I just finished a fantastic book about Google and it’s history, it was very interesting and I’m not really a computer guy. And every once in a while I even go to the self help books, whether they be about improving myself, my spirituality, or my relationship, every so often it is good to work on your self.

I think everyone needs to find the types of books they enjoy reading, their are so many great writers and subjects. If you like horror and mystery, nobody is better than Stephen King. If you like action there is a writer named Vince Flynn whose lead character is a CIA agent named Mitch Rapp and those books are great fun. Nobody can write a legal drama as well as Richard North Patterson, and no one can scare you like James Patterson. I have recently read great biographies on Lincoln ( Barack Obama is reading one as well), Andrew Jackson, Martin Luther King and I am currently reading a great book on the greatest investor of our time Warren Buffett. As for self help books, I can recommend Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars by John Gray, Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting by Lynn Grabhorn, and the Introvert Advantage by Marti Laney, but there are so many great choices there is no real need for my recommendations just head to your local bookstore or library and find what interests you.

There is also one other great thing about reading, like television it is a cheap form of entertainment. Most books are available at your local library for free, or available at book stores for discount prices or in paper back. Remember I am a television junkie, but nothing fuels the mind like a good book, so try to start reading again, their is so much to learn in this great world of ours, and the truth is reading a good book makes you feel better about everything.
